Travelling by car to Lopar is easy, thanks to two ferry connections linking the island with the mainland and nearby islands:

1. Ferry line Stinica – Mišnjak

This line connects the mainland with the southern part of Rab Island. The port of Stinica is about 110 km southeast of Rijeka and around 220 km from Zagreb. The ferry operates all year round and the crossing takes about 15 minutes. After arriving at the port of Mišnjak, it’s approximately a 20-minute drive (about 20 km) to Lopar via the local road D105.

2. Ferry line – Lopar

This line connects the island of Krk with the northern part of Rab Island, directly to Lopar. The port of Valbiska is located on the western coast of Krk and can be reached via road D104 from Malinska. The ferry operates throughout the year, and the journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It’s especially convenient for travellers coming from Rijeka, Istria or Slovenia, as it avoids the need to drive down the mainland to Stinica.

Nearest airport

The nearest airport is Rijeka Airport, located on the island of Krk near Omišalj. From there, it’s about a 30-minute drive (approx. 25 km) to the ferry port of Valbiska. After the ferry crossing to Lopar, you’ve already reached your destination.

If you’re taking the Stinica – Mišnjak line, drive from Zagreb via the A1 motorway to Žuta Lokva, then continue on state road D23 towards Senj, and follow the Adriatic Highway (D8) to Stinica.

If you’re taking the Valbiska – Lopar line, drive from Zagreb via the A6 motorway to Rijeka, cross the Krk Bridge onto Krk Island, and continue towards Valbiska (road D104 via Malinska).

Check schedules and prices in advance on the official websites of the ferry companies: Rapska plovidba Stinica – Mišnjak and Jadrolinija Valbiska – Lopar. In summer, due to high demand, early arrival at the port or purchasing tickets online is recommended.
